Where the photographs come from
The pictures are public-domain scans from Wikimedia Commons, one Commons file under CC BY-SA 4.0, one Stocksnap calculator under CC0, and the practice portrait. Each scan is a bill, a daybook, a ledger page, a letter, or a deposit list. A file is cropped and saved once, and it is not the same file another domain in this fleet already publishes. The portrait of Steven Palmieri is the practice photograph.
Pittsboro's merchant wrote the May 1832 page and the September 1833 page in the same daybook, and both pages are public domain through the Digital Public Library of America. The Allentown invoices were scanned by the person who placed them on Commons. William Samuel Clark's millinery page and the 1889 account book are public domain the same way.
Type on the page is Libre Baskerville and Source Sans 3, served from this site's own font files. The Steven Palmieri mark is the practice mark.
If a credit is missing or a photograph is wrong for the place it stands in for, call the footer number and name the page. We replace the file.
